Here fishy, fishy, fishy

With good friends come good fun, this last weekend was a whopper.  Steven my roommate from college came up to visit this past weekend and we went all out.  Saturday started with a puppy that routinely gets up at the crack of dawn with the daily threat of "either your yard can get wet or your house" so with the day starting early saturday, Steven and I were up and at it with a trip to the park and a lap around the farmers market to socialize and pick up some fresh goodies to snack on.

Once Amanda was up we made the decision to go to Ann Arbor and go kayaking down the Huron.  The puppy needed to get out and have some water experience anyway, right. Unfortunately we didn't remember to take a camera with us so here are some fillers to give you an idea of the pup and the boat,
Overall the pup did really well on the little boat riding in the cockpit first then once he got his balance he figured out he could ride toward the back where it's peaceful.
Sunday, was the grand finale of the weekend, and the day we had been looking forward to for months. Since last summer we went out on Lake Erie and fished Walleye, we needed to continue this Michigan fishing expedition and tryout the west coast. Renouned for being the pretty side of the state, we set ourselves up with a guide out of St. Joseph, MI to go fish for Lake trout, and King Salmon.  So with the alarms going off at 2:30 in the morning, we were on the road by 3 to take on the fish.

Sun is up just enough to see where we are going. 6:15 a.m.

5-6 miles off shore Steven nailed the first one!

...and of course it wasn't too long before Amanda had to get her one.

Me playing with my rod...granted it did have a fish on the other end.
We're starting to notice a trend with Northern fish, they all have teeth!

As the day warmed up we did a lot of this.

a little of this...

The board always makes the fish look small, some of those took 15 mintues or more to get into the boat.

One of the beaches of St. Joseph

Two very random people on the beach.  Very tired random people.

Some people did things like this on the 3 hrs home.

They cleaned the fish for us, but we had to re-bag it once we got home.  That is short 1 bag ( probably 2 lbs of fish or more) , we used it as payment for puppy babysitting.

We have just about reached the point of deciding that over the next year  were going to have to break down and buy a freezer for the basement.

So until next time, hope this finds our family and friends  blessed and healthy.
